How to Lock In Your Wedding Photography Price Before 2027
Six practical ways Perth couples planning a 2027 wedding can protect their photography and videography budget as costs rise.

With storage, equipment and running costs all rising in 2026, many wedding photographers and videographers are reviewing their packages for next year. If you're getting married in 2027, a little planning now can protect your budget. Here's how. (If you're wondering why prices are moving at all, start with why wedding photography prices are rising in 2026.)

1. Book Earlier Than You Think
Popular Saturdays in spring and autumn are often booked 12 to 18 months ahead. Booking early gives you more choice, and in most cases the price you're quoted is the price you pay once your date is secured.
2. Get the Price in Writing
Once you pay your deposit, your contract should list the package price and exactly what's included. Check whether that price is fixed, and whether add-ons booked later will be charged at the rates current at that time.
3. Bundle Photo and Video
Combined photography and videography packages from one studio are usually cheaper than booking two businesses, and one team means one set of equipment and one workflow.
4. Consider Off-Peak Dates
Perth's peak season runs from October to April, and Saturdays carry a premium. A Friday, Sunday or winter date can make a real difference to your quote.
5. Choose Coverage That Fits Your Day
More hours and more cameras mean more footage to store and edit. If your celebration is smaller, ceremony and reception coverage, or a highlight film rather than a full feature, may give you everything you need. See highlight film vs feature film vs same-day edit to compare.
6. Don't Cut the Wrong Corner
When prices rise, a much cheaper quote can be tempting. Check that it still includes proper backups, full-resolution delivery and the coverage you actually want. Our Perth wedding photography and videography cost guide shows what's realistic at each price tier.
